TEMBO SAFARI

The Tembo has been split into three different safaris that follow the same route as the Kifaru itinerary, except they offer a final night in Arusha. Here, guests will visit N'giresi Cultural Village to interact with the Wa-Arusha tribe, including farmers, visiting a school and perhaps a boma. Accommodation varies slightly in style and cost, however locations are all excellent bases from which to explore the national parks.

Tanzania's northern circuit is accessed by scheduled flights, which means less time getting from A to B, and more for game-viewing. The Sopa Lodges used here are located in some of the parks' most sought-after areas, so watching animals is always exciting. This itinerary may also be operated in reverse.

SERENA'S TANZANIA SAFARI

GEMS OF THE NORTH

As the name represents, these three classically special camps in northern Tanzania all offer the ultimate safari luxuries. They are privately run, extremely small and situated in spectacular locations. Attention to detail is second to none. Game activities generally include day drives and guided walks. There are no fixed itineraries here, making days as flexible as you would like them to be. Expect to be impressed by the accommodation, which is opulent, lavish and exquisitely designed. At certain times of the year, the flight from Arusha to Klein's Camp does not operate. As an alternative during these periods, we provide a spectacular game drive through the park, which takes approximately four hours. This includes a picnic en route and many stops to admire the wildlife.

3 Nights Mnemba Island add on
Upon arrival in Arusha, you will connect with a flight to Zanzibar. From here, transfer to a jetty, where a short boat ride brings you to the romantic idyll of Mnemba Island, for some barefoot luxury, superb cuisine and stylish dining.

Speke Bay Lodge

Located a short distance from Serengeti, the lodge looks like a small traditional village, stretched along the south-eastern shores of Lake Victoria. The main buildings are whitewashed and roofs thatched in the traditional style of the Sukuma. All eight bungalows are comfortable, spacious and situated along the lake ensuring privacy and great views. Much of the lodge’s furniture is made locally, built from solid Mkola wood, adding to the ambience.

Serengeti Mbuzi Mawe Camp

Slightly elevated and built into a glade of granite outcrops some three million years old, Mbuzi Mawe is small, sophisticated and extremely charming. It is located at the epicentre of Serengeti, with some of the most picturesque scenery and best game-viewing on its doorstep. The camp offers a classic safari atmosphere, with just 16 luxurious tents, 24-hour electricity, stylish en-suite bathrooms, a dressing area, two double four-poster beds and a verandah with a double sun-bed. Under the professional management of Serena Hotels, expect delightful food, excellent guides and a charming service. There is often game wandering around camp and the klipspringer (mbuzi mawe in Swahili) is often seen silhouetted on granite rock against an orange sunset.

This safari combines several outstanding game-viewing areas, as well as the chance to experience Lake Manyara's Mto wa Mbu Village and enjoy a great lunch there.
